symplebyte logoThere are plenty of places on the web to get detailed, highly technical information on how to use a computer and computer software. What's really hard to find is simple information for those users that are not experts. Symplebyte.com is designed for computer users that are not experts.

For the most part, people who use computers can be thought of using the 80/20 rule:

  • about 80% of computer users know how to use less than 20% of their computer
  • only about 20% of computer users know how to use 80% or more of their computer

Over the years I've noticed that the '20 percenters' (those who know) are not usually the best at teaching the '80 percenters' (those who do not know). I'm not really sure why this is, it may be a left brain/right brain thing and they really try but just don't communicate well, it might be that they think they've figured it out the hard way and are not inclined to make it easy for someone else, it might be that they're just too busy and/or just don't care, or in some cases their might even be some arrogance and snobbery involved. Whatever the reason the end result is the same - frustration and wasted time for the 80 percenters trying to figure things out.

The goal of SympleByte.com is to focus on all of those 80 percenters, and provide easy-to-use information on just how to utilize the full power of their computer. If you're one of the 20 percenters, you may not find much here that you don't already know, but you're certainly welcome to look around and by all means leave comments, I will value your input and knowledge. If you're one of the 80 percenters I pledge to never make you feel stupid about anything you may ask, and really want you to ask those questions you've always been afraid to. I'll do my best to supply the answers to a variety of questions about using your computer, and how to turn it into a tool that actually helps, instead of one that is just a frustrating desk decoration.
